Critical applications.
From applications such as shaft seals in jet engines, to radomes on some of the most sophisticated missiles in the United States arsenal, SKYBOND® products' high continuous use temperature and ability to withstand peak temperatures of greater than 1000º F for short periods guards against failure in these critical applications.
Critical performance.
During decades of commercial and military use, SKYBOND® products have been recognized as having the highest thermal resistance, radiation resistance, solvent resistance, and electrical properties of any commercial polyimide. Additionally, the excellent radar transparency of SKYBOND® polyimides makes them the resin of choice for high performance radome applications.
This unique combination of properties makes SKYBOND® resins especially suitable for demanding applications where conditions go 'beyond spec' requiring a superior product with plenty of reserve capabilities.
Thermal stability.
The SKYBOND® product family's ability to protect against high temperature failure is why it is used in critical structural applications. Continuous use temperatures in excess of 280ºC and ability to withstand temperatures of 350º C (>100 hours) and even higher temperature (>600º C) for shorter periods make SKYBOND® the product of choice for demanding aerospace applications. The very low tendency to outgas coupled with outstanding thermal stability makes SKYBOND® the prefect choice for use in vacuum applications, such as space vehicle components.
