PERFORMANCE OF WIRE PROTECTION
Taking the heat:  Superior overload resistance.
Pyre-ML's ability to protect against high temperatures is why it is used to protect motors, generators, transformers, and other apparatus which operate continuously at temperatures up to 240 ºC.  It also protects heavy-duty motors which, due to temporary extreme overloads, acceleration torques, or stalls, are subjected to even higher temperatures (up to 400 ºC) for limited periods.  This thermal stability and very low tendency to give off volatile compounds also makes Pyre-ML® perfect for use in sealed relays designed for use in a vacuum.  And the near absolute insolubility of Pyre-ML(especially Freon resistance) has led to its wide acceptance in hermetic refrigeration systems and certain liquid filled transformers.
pyrecompare.jpgHigh-performance in the lab and on the job...
the data represented in the bar chart (left) compares Pyre-ML® with 'Formvar' Wire Enamel (gray bars), another commercial enamel. Testing to ASTM-specs was performed to compare the initial properties of wire coated with both products. Complete test results for these and other categories, and for other competitive products, are available from IST's Technical Support Dept.

The clear leader.
During decades of commercial and military use, Pyre-ML® products have been recognized as having the finest thermal stability, radiation resistance, solvent resistance, cryogenic resistance and electrical properties of any enamel available.

This unique combination of properties makes Pyre-ML® especially suitable for tough applications where actual conditions can go 'beyond spec', requiring a superior product with plenty of reserve capabilities.
Simple application on a myriad of materials.
Pyre-ML® wire enamels can be applied to all sizes of round, square, and rectangular wires by conventional die coating techniques.  They have also been applied to irregular surfaces using other techniques such as spraying, drop dispensing, and brushing.   Copper, aluminum, brass, nickel, and chrome alloy have all been coated successfully.  Pyre-ML® has also been used for coating glass servo wire and special hookup wires insulated with surface-treated Teflon fluorocarbon resin.

Superior flexibility of Pyre-MLis demonstrated in the 'forward bend' test (above), which measures how much an enamel-coated wire can be bent before the coating is compromised. Pyre-ML Wire Enamel(shown in red) can withstand a forward bend diameter of up to 1/8″, the tightest bend possible of the competing products shown.
